The Automotive Coalition for Traffic Safety, Inc. (“ACTS”) is 501(c)(4) nonprofit headquartered in Leesburg, Virginia. ACTS’ mission is to research, educate, and promote motor vehicle and traffic safety. ACTS also licenses technology and intellectual property in the area of occupant safety and adjacent applications. ACTS pursues its mission with the support of the world’s leading light car and truck manufacturers and works cooperatively with other non–government organizations and government agencies.
Job Overview:
We are currently seeking an innovated, organized, and experienced Director of Programs to join our growing team. Reporting directly to the President and CEO, the Director of Programs will be responsible for managing and overseeing current and future ACTS programs throughout their lifecycles, driving execution on schedule, communicating complex issues and status at all levels of the organization. The Director of Programs will make high–impact decisions, both technical and strategic.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for managing all ACTS programs, creating an environment of innovation and program excellence
• Responsible for program performance measurements, reporting, quality assurance, resource allocation, risk management
• Manages daily operations that support and implement our program objectives and ensures smooth functioning of current program functions
• Produces relevant program management deliverables such as program objectives, risk assessment plan, stakeholder assessment, communication plan, issue/risk assessment, program tracking, and project status reports.
• Provides guidance to the project teams on development and execution of program plans and leads throughout the program life cycle
• Drives the program development process in conjunction with the leadership and functions to execute ACTS programs
• Works closely with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure financial health of the programs by preparing budgets, forecasting expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions in partnership with finance department.
• Manages and coordinates with program managers and vendors to ensure a successful program delivery
• Oversees and approves the selection of team members for projects
• Oversees prosecution of intellectual property
• Communicates project objectives, priorities, and directions to all stakeholders across the organization, as well as to outside contractors and consultants
• Represents ACTS at various meetings and events domestically and internationally as needed
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s, or MBA (preferred)
• 10 or more years in project management role, with progressive responsibility in program implementation
• Experience working as a program director, program manager, or project manager
• Experience working closely across all stakeholders to manage the program development life cycle
• Possesses best in class cross functional skills and ability to drive teams to perform to highly demanding timelines and challenges
• Ability to interpret, manage and communicate technical and business program needs, concerns, risks, issues across all stakeholders
• Effectively operates in a fast-paced environment, proactive and forward thinking
• Knowledge of current program management methods and best practices
• Experience managing multiple teams and budgets
• Demonstrates business leadership skills including decision making, problem solving, analytical and communication skills
• Experience with industry–standard project management software
• Working knowledge of 2 C.F.R. Part 200—Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards a plus
• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and passion for ACTS’ mission
• Strong program management skills in managing complex, multi–faceted programs resulting in measurable successes and program growth
• Experience having worked with a high–performance, collaborative, constructive peer group
• Ability to instill a sense of accountability among team members by modeling tight oversight or program performance requirements
• Strength in managing, developing, coaching, and retaining individuals and teams, empowering them to elevate their levels of performance
• Up to 30% domestic and international travel or as needed
